"Sonic The Hedgehog" Film Review

Rating: 1/5

There are some films where you constantly check the time to see how much longer you have to endure the pain of watching that film. Without a doubt, "Sonic The Hedgehog" is one of those films.

The entire film was just a huge boring mess. The acting wasn't great, the animations were subpar,  Jim Carrey was ridiculous like always... must I go on? The plot of Sonic attempting to escape Dr. Robotnik is bland and too overused by films in the same genre.

While James Marsden, who plays friendly cop and Sonic's partner Tom Wachowski, tried to save the movie, Carrey just ruins it. He is extremely over-the-top, and frankly, not funny at all. His extremely exaggerated humor is very tiresome after a while, and makes you want to turn the movie off. He is constantly shouting throughout this film for no reason whatsoever. I believe his character was added in the film to annoy the audience, and they clearly succeeded.

The film was bland and boring. I didn't really care for any of the characters, and the plot has been extremely overused. The animations weren't amazing, even after they totally changed the design for Sonic. The studio should have gotten a clue about this film when the classic video game character was already being ridiculed before the film was even released.

The jokes in the film didn't work either. I think the writers had a good joke in mind when writing, and all we got were the ideas for the jokes. I didn't think any of the film was funny, and I doubt very seriously kids will find this film funny either.

Frankly, "Sonic The Hedgehog" should never have been made. This film was created solely for profit and nothing else. Movie studios need to stop making film adaptations of popular video games. Why, you might ask? Because every time we get a new film adaption of a video game, it's a hot mess and we're always left disappointed. Let's just hope the new "Mortal Kombat" film is somewhat good. Anything will be better than this horrible movie.
